Symmetry methods have been used to great effect in solving problems in Mathematical Physics in the 20th century.  With the rise of Mathematical Biology in the 21st century, it is only proper to consider the impact a group theoretic approach can make in this field.  We will illustrate the usefulness of symmetry methods by considering two problems: a toy 2-strain infectious disease model and a chemotaxis model.
